In comparison to English wax dolls original German dolls are superior in every respect. The German dolls are made from ingredients that come from the black forest made at he home of the peasants. The earliest original German dolls were produced in famous pottery factories of Copenhagen and Dresden. These early original German dolls were referred to as Parian meaning untainted bisque. The early dolls possessed delicate features, faces, ribbons, bows, collars and sometime flowers. The exact color of these dolls made every one of them an exquisite piece of art. The popularity of the original German dolls gained momentum during end 1870’s Pariah Bisque led way to china head dolls. As the latter type was mass-produced, they had a shiny finish over the plain Pariah German dolls. The popularity of these type of original German dolls rose to the peak between 1860 to 1900 as they served as cheaper alternative to the tinted bisque (unglazed) which were way ahead in popularity.
Then it was came the later phase of doll industry in which original German dolls under went a radical change. Now the original German dolls were modeled after real children. Thus it emerged the famous period of ‘dolly type’ face German dolls.
